An appliance and crew visit your community event

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) attend a variety of events to promote fire safety in the community.

Each visit will consist of one crew, being four firefighters and a fire truck, and is free of charge.

Events we attend include pre-schools, schools and higher education facilities, charities and community groups. Other groups are considered on a case-by-case basis.

We are not able to attend playgroups, family day care, kindergyms, child and family care, out of school hours’ care (OSHC), private events or activities of a commercial nature (paid entry events).

For the MFS to attend your community event, the following conditions must apply:

  • Minimum of 50 attendees is required.
  • The Community Event Visit will consist of a fire truck with crew attending and engaging with your community on the subject of fire safety in the home.
  • The fire truck must stand on hard surfaces - not grassed areas or ovals.
  • The crew and fire truck may be required to respond to emergencies at any time, so they must be able to exit the site quickly at all times.
  • Fire trucks can be loud and intimidating so please ensure attendees with sensory issues are prepared with carers and headphones etc on hand.
  • Fire trucks are not accessible for those in wheelchairs or with significant mobility issues.
  • The MFS is not able to provide Community Event Visits to playgroups, family day care, kindergyms, child and family care, wineries or breweries, or private events and activities of a commercial nature.

  • Due to high demand, please submit booking requests at least five weeks in advance. Requests are processed in order of receipt.
  • Ensure attendees with sensory sensitivities are prepared (e.g. with headphones).
  • If your group has specific accessibility needs, please indicate these in your booking form.
  • The crew may need to respond to emergencies, potentially requiring early departure or cancellation. We will assist with rebooking if this occurs.

Please feel free to call us on 8204 3611 to discuss any concerns ahead of your visit.
