Educational Station Tours

Educational Station Tours (You come to the fire station for a tour)

Due to the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) has made the difficult decision to cancel all non-emergency community engagements until 31 May 2020.

Our aim is to protect our employees and members of the public (including vulnerable groups) and to protect our ability as an organisation to provide 24/7 emergency response to serve the community.

The MFS has also made a proactive decision to discontinue taking bookings for such engagements beyond that date until further notice.

Bookings currently held within our system beyond 31 May 2020 will be reviewed at the end of May and the organisations will receive communication at that time.

We look forward to again taking bookings for educational Station Tours, Appliance Visits, Community Events, Road Awareness Program (RAP) Presentations, Career Presentations, Home Fire and Life Safety Presentations and School Holiday Fire Station Tours and members of the community are encouraged to monitor the MFS website and social media sites for updates.

We understand this is disappointing for the community and thank you for your understanding.

The MFS is committed to promoting fire safety within our community. Subject to availability and incidents, an Educational Tour of our metropolitan fire stations can be booked by your school or community group.

Educational Tours are approximately one hour in duration. A minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 people (inclusive of all adults and children) are required for a tour. Children must be 4 years of age or older for a educational tour to take place.

Educational Tours are only held at the following times (excluding Public Holidays):

  • 1030 hours (10.30 am) Monday to Friday
  • 1830 hours (6.30 pm) Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The crew and appliances may be required to attend emergencies at any time and tours may be halted at short notice.

Vehicle parking may not be available at the Fire Station. Please plan your travel and parking arrangements.

MFS is not able to offer Educational Station Tours to playgroups, family day care, kinder gyms, child and family care, out of school hours’ care or other private parties or celebrations.

Disabled access is available. All ages are catered for. There is no charge for this service.

We require a minimum of five weeks notice for all bookings.  Unfortunately the MFS is not able to provide a fire station as a venue for a private function such as a birthday party or other celebration.
