Mount Gambier Station

The MFS has delivered emergency services to the Mount Gambier community since the station was established by the SA Fire Brigade on 8 March 1922.

Mount Gambier Station is staffed by a day crew comprising six full-time firefighters working from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm and backed up by 25 retained firefighters who are available on a roster basis, 24 hours per day, every day of the year.

Mount Gambier Fire Station has a Volvo FM9 Pump/Rescue Appliance fitted with a Hale Pump with a capacity of 3,800 litres per minute,  a  Scania P360 C.A.P.A (Combined Aerial Pumping Appliance) fitted with a Rosenbauer Pump with a capacity of 4,000 litres per minute and a Metz 20 metre ladder platform, a Scania General Purpose Pumper fitted with a Darley pump rated at 3,800 litres per minute and a R.O.S.A (Regional Operations Support Appliance) which is a four wheel drive and fitted with a Darley pump rated at 400 litres per minute.

These appliances are cross manned, crewed by a full-time supervisor and three firefighters dependent on the need. Retained crews comprising a supervisor and three firefighters staff the other appliances.

Mount Gambier Fire Station retained staff train on Tuesday nights from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
