MFS Firefighters To Assist in Victorian Mine Fire
A deployment of firefighters from the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) will fly to Melbourne this afternoon to assist Victorian firefighters in battling a large fire in an open-cut mine, which continues to burn in Victoria.
Flight details are as follows: Qantas Flight QF692 departing at 4:50pm
The MFS team comprises eight firefighters and one Commander to help in combating the fire burning at the Hazelwood Power Station in the Latrobe Valley.
Media are invited to attend Adelaide Airport Gate 19 for a media opportunity with MFS Deputy Chief Officer Mick Smith and departing the crews from 4pm. DCO Smith will address all media at 4:20pm.
