MFS advises that crews are responding to a fire in a pile of compost at a industrial compost business.
The incident is located at Liston Road at Lonsdale in Adelaide's south.
The incident is contained to a pile of compost and is not threatening lives or property. 65 MFS and CFS firefighters from 15 appliances (trucks) have contained the fire, which is expected to continue to burn for several hours. Excavation equipment is being used to separate the compost pile to assist firefighters with gaining access to the fire. The fire is causing smoke to be visible at Lonsdale and surrounding suburbs. Members of the public should not be concerned by the smoke. Those travelling in the area should exercise caution as the smoke may reduce visibility. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay inside and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed..
