MFS advises that crews are responding to a fire at a composting business.
The incident is located at Liston Road at Lonsdale in Adelaide's South.
The incident is burning in a pile of compost and is not threatening any buildings. The fire is causing a large amount of smoke in the Lonsdale area that may drift across surrounding suburbs. MFS Commander, Peter Reynolds says that members of the public should not be concerned by the smoke. "Those travelling in the area should exercise caution as smoke may reduce visibility." "Residents in the area are advised to close doors and windows until the smoke passes," he said. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay inside and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed. While the MFS is aware of smoke in the Lonsdale area, it does advise residents that should they observe a different fire burning unattended, that they should call Triple Zero immediately..
While the MFS is aware of this incident, if you notice a different emergency incident that is unattended, call "000".
For information, listen to your local emergency services broadcaster, or visit the MFS website www.mfs.sa.gov.au.
