J-FLIP (Juvenile Fire Lighters Intervention Program)

Has your child been lighting fires, playing with lighters or displaying behaviours that are not fire safe? J-FLIP is a free and confidential educational program that works with you and your child to stop children’s fire lighting behaviours.

While curiosity about fire is common, fire lighting is not acceptable and can be deadly. Fire lighting is not a phase that children go through and it needs to be dealt with immediately. Even one fire lighting event has the potential to be devastating and deadly.

J-FLIP is tailored to each child depending on their fire lighting activities, their maturity and the potential consequences of their actions.

“The firefighter did well to get my child to engage.”

Specially selected and trained MFS firefighters deliver the program with a very high success rate.

Interpreters are available free of charge if required.

If you want to enrol your child in the program please complete the J-FLIP Enquiry Form.

Examples of feedback from parents / carers who give our program a satisfaction rating over 9.5 out of 10 each year:

Charles now realises how quickly a fire takes hold and how fast it can grow.”

“The firefighter was very good with his explanations, made it easy for John to understand.”

“Great experience that not only taught Douglas, but us as well.”

“Complete turnaround in Riley – it also improved his whole behaviour.”
