Father & daughter become MFS firefighter colleagues (13-09-2017)

A long-serving MFS Station Officer and his daughter have become MFS firefighter colleagues.

SO Graham Lynch proudly welcomed daughter Samantha as a new colleague when she graduated along with 17 other new recruit firefighters.

Regional firefighters enhance skills (15/08/2017)

MFS firefighters are enhancing their structural firefighting skills through specialised training being rolled out across regional SA.

Up to 260 retained firefighters from 16 regional stations are receiving the live fire training, thanks to a brand new $66,000 mobile firefighting prop. [More here...]

Helping to combat Tonga's road toll (26/07/2017)

Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) firefighters are helping Tongan firefighters to combat the Pacific island nation’s road toll.

Two MFS firefighters have journeyed to Tonga to deliver road crash rescue, Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and fire appliance training to Tonga Fire and Emergency Services (TFES) colleagues. [More here…]

SA fire trucks on duty in Tonga (28/06/2017)

Two South Australian fire trucks have arrived for duty at Tonga Fire and Emergency Services (TFES), thanks to a 14 year alliance with the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS).

They’re the 21st and 22nd retired fire trucks that the MFS has arranged to donate to the Pacific Island nation of Tonga’s fire service since 2004. [more here...]

Anzac Day Challenge (18/04/2016)

The ANZAC Day Challenge is a fiercely contested annual football match played between the Australian Combined Emergency Service (ACES) Football team and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) All Stars.

Koala Rescue (13/01/2016)

Sunday 10 January started no doubt like any other for a particular Koala living in Craigburn Farm in the Adelaide Hills.

The challenge to eat the required half a kilo of eucalyptus leaves was on.

Leaves always look greener on the other side of the road but as this female koala found, the road is no place for a koala. Unfortunately she was hit not by one but by two cars. The first car drove over her body and the second car drove over her foot. [more here ...]
