Recruit Course and Beyond
The recruit training course is generally of 14 weeks duration.
The majority of the Recruit Course takes place at the SAMFS Angle Park Training Centre, with various components held also at the Adelaide Fire Station. There is also a 5 day live in component at the CFS Training Centre in Brukunga in the Adelaide Hills.
Instruction during the recruit training is comprehensive. It involves lectures and practical training on equipment and procedures relevant to firefighting and employment with the MFS. The Recruit Firefighter will be subject to regular competency based assessments throughout recruit training.
Physical training is also a regular component of recruit training.
Placement following successful completion of the Recruit Training Course may be to any MFS Station where full-time Firefighters are employed.
Candidates who meet all the required competencies and standards at the completion of the recruit course and the probationary period will be appointed as a firefighter (Permanent Full-time) with the MFS.
